For quite some time, I’ve believed that earthy shades of lipsticks simply do not suit me. Either because of my pale skin or warm tones in my natural lip colour. However, recently I found myself gravitating towards them. I fancied a brown/purple/mauve nude (shades that I’ve loved on my eyes and cheeks). Suddenly, I felt like they went pretty well with my hair colour and generally gave quite a sophisticated look.
The product in question is MAC lip liner in Whirl. Whirl is described as dirty rose. And as I heard so many people talking about it, I figured I might check it out and it looked absolutely beautiful. When I first put it on– It was love at first sight.
Exactly the sort of thing I was going for. It does have brown in it but it’s not overpowering. Combined with the pink and red tones, it ends up looking very refined. I don’t find it to be too dark either and I’m assuming it’ll suit all skin tones. Also, I never got into lip liners but it doesn’t get any simpler. I lined my lips and Whirl had a beautiful creamy texture, matte finish and felt comfortable on the lips.
Going strong with my September lipstick resolution, Whirl is another very autumn-appropriate shade to join Chanel RCS in Aura, L’Oreal Caresse in Irresistible Expresso or Bourjois Color Boost in Plum Russian (all mentioned in this post). Next on my list is MAC’s Blankety. I heard someone describe it as a grown-up nude and that sounds about right. I’m still not convinced if it’ll look good so I guess, I need to run to the counter and try it on.
Dirty dusty rose may not sound all that exciting but I fell in love with this deeper hue. What do you think? What’s your favourite nude or not lip product?

It looks gorgeous on you! Definitely wear it more often! 🙂
