The Life-Changing Cleanser

I briefly mentioned this baby in my April Favourites but I suppose with skincare it makes the most sense to really take your time and review how the product performs within a longer period of time. I’ve never previously tried a cleansing oil so the whole concept of Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel was quite terrifying. But…

I used to use Bioderma or other French pharmacy brand cleanser but after briefly switching to the Garnier Micellar Water, my skin was so dried out. There are no words to express how much I hate that thing. I was just about to buy the Pai Camellia & Rose Hydrating Cleanser when I spotted a £10 off at Space NK and Oskia won. Purely because Anna swears by it. And she is so right.

I’m not even a pink person but who doesn’t love a pink gel that turns into an oil once you massage it in. It just dissolves all of the makeup while feeling so lovely on the skin and cleansing it properly. Then you rinse off with a cloth and your skin feels the softest it’s ever been. As it says on the box, it’s an illuminating vitamin cleanser so you get a lovely glow boost whether you use it in the morning or at night. Not to mention the subtle pleasant fragrance and the pump, it makes getting the right amount of product so easy.

I think the thing I feared most about this product is that it would leave my skin oily which can still happen on my forehead if I use a wrong product. But really what happens is that it seems to control that bit of unwanted shine area and prepares for the next skincare steps. I’m impressed. Basically, it sorted out my skin. It’s more balanced and I only get an occasional breakout, mostly in my eyebrow area where the skin gets irritated when I pluck the hairs.

The cleanser is definitely not the cheapest. I think the Pai one is actually cheaper as you get more product but for what it does to my skin, I’m willing to pay the price. I mean cleansing your skin is the most important skincare step in my opinion. What’s your holy grail cleanser? Have you tried the Oskia one?
