Remember that cheeky midnight Space NK haul I mentioned earlier. Well, here are my first impressions. I don’t think I’ll be doing any makeup shopping in the next months but oh, am I happy with these two purchases. First of all, you got to hand it to Hourglass for the idea of swirling up their powders and it’s not just pretty to look at.
I’m a big fan of their Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light. I’ve been using it as setting/highlighting powder for months and even though I’ve hit pan it’s still going strong. Turns out the whole ‘ambient lighting’ name actually has a strong basis to it. The glow they provide while still keeping your makeup on is uncanny.

Mood Exposure has been on my list ever since these blushes launched because it’s being compared to Tarte Exposed (I mean, the name!), Nars Douceur (how is this discontinued?), Chanel Accent (why was this limited edition?). I will do a comparison post in the future. Hourglass describes it as a soft plum and it was less nude in the pan than I expected. It does go on a lot more neutral but it is swirled with the Mood Light powder which adds a hint of light pink. I’ve tried it out and the pigmentation as well as the highlighting properties are excellent.
Luminous Bronze Light is a newer launch. I saw Tamira mention it and I had to get it. I have the lighter shade out of the two and it seems to be a fairly matte warm tan swirled with a rose gold iridescent powder. From what I can tell the darker one has more of a golden tan base. I like the rose gold. The pigmentation is spot on, it’s not overly pigmented but also, not barely there. You don’t need much, though. Out of the two items, I think this is my favourite. I’ve never cared about bronzers but I love this one on my pale skin. And unexpectedly, it can be used for contouring. It won’t create a shadow but it’s not shimmery so it does add some definition and depth.

Still, the most mind-blowing quality of these powders is that you simply cannot see them on the skin. I looked closely and it just blends in so seamlessly. The quality is incredible. I reckon, my bronzer era has begun. So much for the talk I’ve once had with my fellow pale friend about never buying a bronzer. Have you tried any of the Hourglass powders? What are you thoughts?
Mood Exposure is gorgeous! I have the Hourglass blush in Dim Infusion which gives a pretty peachy glow and I love it!
