There is no point denying that I have a thing about high-end makeup. The quality’s better, the selection’s better, the feel is more satisfying. While I used to just stock up at the Chanel counter in the past, I’m slowly venturing into all the other brands (although that might change because their Les Automnales collection is to die for!) Anyway, I figured I’d put together a post that would include my very top five products that are just irreplaceable in my collection.
Chanel Vitalumière Aqua – oddly enough it’s the only Chanel product that gets a mention. Mostly because most of my favourites have already been discontinued and some I’m not using at the moment. Otherwise Le Volume mascara, Poudre Universaille compact or Ambre Doré eyeliner would make up this post alone. This foundation is fullproof. B10 shade matches me perfectly, it’s so easy to blend, beautifying, long-lasting, with a medium coverage and a skin like natural finish.
Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face – it may not look like much this brush but every since I got it I can’t be bothered to apply my foundation with my fingers or the wretched Beauty Blender (I really wanted to love it). It blends the product so quickly and streak free. A little drawback is that it is too big to fit under my eyes perfectly but then again, what isn’t. Also, it’s a bit of a pain to wash so if you have a suggestion, send it my way. However, Bobbi Brown brushes are a great investment and you do pay for the quality.
Charlotte Tilbury Powder & Sculpt – another brush but I’ve learned to appreciate the role they play in making you look your best. This one does exactly what it says on the box. I use this one for any powder that doesn’t have any shimmer. It’s brilliant for powdering because the tapered bristles fit in perfectly around all the curves of your face. It’s brilliant for contouring but fits in the hollows, under the jaw and even on the sides of your nose (you won’t get a precise nose contour with it though). It picks up just the right amount of powder. Oh, I almost forgot – these two brushes are divinely soft making you want to stroke your face all day…
Nars Audacious in Barbara – if you’ve read a few of my posts, you’re probably sick of hearing about this lipstick but I don’t feel this shade gets the recognition. It’s got a subtle 1990s nude vibe going on and if I wasn’t so unwilling to finish it quickly, I would wear it everyday. The Audacious formula is brilliant, it’s a one swipe full pigment kind of application. If you fancy seeing it swatched and on, there is a whole post dedicated to it.
Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes in Lilac Taupe – were I to repurchase my third bullet now, I would probably go with Taupe but no matter which shade you choose, the formula is something exceptional. It will not budge, it will stay the way you applied it until you decide to take it off. It works on its own, it works as a base. I personally love the brush applicator, you swipe it on, one eye at a time because it sets, blend the edges with a 217 and you’re done. More about it here.
Now, if I showed you all the products I like, it’d be a bit too excessive but here’s crème de la crème of my stash. These five are just one of a kind in the way they perform and I would happily pay for them again. What are the high-end makeup products in your stash you could never replace?
That NARS Lipstick sounds amazing-I will definitely have to try that out! Do you recommend any other lipsticks? Could you also check out my blog and follow if you like it? Thanks, and I love your blog by the way, and will check in to see more post! 🙂
My other faves must be Mac and Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks. From the drugstore, I like the Rimmel Kate range. Thank you for your comment! I’ll check out your blog. Xo
Thank you! I will def. look into those products!
