Grunge Makeup Tutorial

Urban Decay 1993, Nars Dolomites, Nars Sin, Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet It’s no secret I am utterly obsessed with the reddish brown from the Nars Dolomites palette and I swear I’m about to hit pan so in desperation I’m considering Anastasia eyeshadows order. I mean, Red Earth and Morocco are to die for but onto the tutorial… I thought I’d share with you my take on the grunge makeup.

Urban Decay 1993, Nars Dolomites, Nars Sin, Chanel Perfection Lumiere VelvetAs per usual in the cooler months my face gets a bit more oily so my latest base product of choice is Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet in B10 (what no Burberry Fresh Glow BB?). Anyway, I’ve tried this foundation when it first launched and a few times since but finally purchased it now. I apply it with my Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face brush and afterwards my skin feels like velvet. Not exaggerating. Then I go on to apply every single concealer I own because I have some sort of allergic reaction on my skin but I’ll spare you. Basically it’s Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Bisque under my eyes and Mac Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 on the multiple areas of redness. Setting it all with Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Powder in Fair, then contouring with Tom Ford Bronzing Powder in Terra (jawline, under the cheek bones and on my forehead) and the obvious autumnal blush of choice is Nars Sin.

Eyes. As you might have anticipated, it’s Nars Dolomites but any reddish brown will do. I start off with the middle shade from the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit and run it in my socket line. Then I sweep Dolomites reddish brown all over the eyelid (although there might have been some of the lilac shadow on my 217 so it got a bit of that tone as well) and along my lower lashline. Keeping with the red tones, I add Mac Eye Kohl in Costa Riche on both my top lashline and waterline and to finish off the eyes I’m using Benefit They’re Real in Beyond Brown.

Lastly the lips. I fell in love with Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in 1993 and basically wear it most days now but the deep brown with a hint of mauve is just so flattering but not dark to the point where I look washed out. Thumbs up for the incredible balmy matte formula.

I love the combination of dark lips and dark eyes and surprise surprise it’s all matte bar the tiny shimmers in Sin which add a little highlight. Let me know what you think! Hope you liked the look and till Friday!

  1. […] Mac Eye Kohl in Costa Riche – for the longest time, I’ve been planning to get Mac Teddy to replace Essence Teddy but as I swatched it side by side with Costa Riche, I figured this was the eye pencil I was looking for. Unlike both Teddy’s, this lacks the metallic dark bronze finish and instead you get a very deep reddish brown shade, no shimmer particles included. Now, I guess red-toned might put some people off but it’s honestly not into your face and certainly makes the eye look more interesting than a standard espresso kohl. I’m not wearing this one in the photo but you can see it on here. […]
