Thoughts On Getting Muji Storage and Rebranding

Chanel Exception, Aesop, Dior, Chanel, MujiWhat a serious subject to reflect on. But let me tell you picking out the Muji drawers was a struggle. I don’t even remember how I used to store my compacts back home but it was sort of a ridiculous solution. When I moved, I put all of my brushes in my marble mug but the rest was just floating around. On my table and in the overflowing and inconvenient to use makeup bag.

Chanel Exception, Aesop, Dior, Chanel, MujiMuji, Makeup CollectionThe reason why I hesitated getting the Muji drawers was because it felt like a commitment that made a statement. I mean, you can’t miss those stacked drawers packed full of makeup and it sort of becomes obvious all against the idea of minimalism which I’m partial to. As I mentioned before I do sometimes look at all of those products and wonder what the hell do I need all of it for but the other side of me aspires to have every single product mentioned in this video. The key is however to use the products you have and in that sense, I find all those multiple stacks of drawers and hundreds of brushes revolting. There I said it.

When I got to the point that I did in fact need something to store all of these makeup in, it was between two or three drawers. In short, if I get any more, I’ll have no place to store it in but that can’t be too bad since I did actually manage to walk out of John Lewis empty-handed the other day upon resisting a Chanel purchase. I will however say that having all my makeup neatly stored in these drawers makes morning application so much easier and overall, keeps my space neater.

So just a quick tour of my Muji storage to finish off. In the top drawer, I keep my compacts and in the bottom drawer, I keep my lipsticks, single eyeshadows and other deluxe samples. On top I have my brush mug, Origins Night-a-mins, Dior Backstage Blender (which actually blends in foundation as opposed to the wretched pink sponge), Aesop Rosehip Lip Cream, Dior Huile Abricot and a four compartment Muji stand which holds my bases, concealers, eyeshadow primer, bronzer, eye and lip pencils, mascaras, brow products etc.Mac, Chanel, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, Urban Decay, Inglot

Moving onto the second part of this post. Rebranding is something that has been on my mind for quite some time and I’ve told myself that I’ll do it when I move. Beauty Apéritif was a name I came up with mostly because in my mind it had a meaning but admittedly to say it out loud it doesn’t sound that appealing. On all my other social medias which to be honest don’t get that much love these days I go with @mllemabelle or @mllemabel (Twitter) and Mademoiselle Mabelle has been on my mind  for a while but that doesn’t sound right either. Then Karl Lagerfeld came up with Mademoiselle Privé for his Chanel exhibition and that just has a ring to it, doesn’t it? In effect, a thought stumbled my mind. Mademoiselle Suite. Any thoughts?

While I’m not completely in love with the Muji storage, it is probably the best solution out there and for the moment I’m happy with what my makeup stash looks like even if I have a few other bits and my nail polishes just all over the place. How do you store your makeup?
