Rolling Project Pan Update #3

In my last update I was fairly certain, I won’t have much progress for a while but actually quite happy with what I’ve reached my goal on. Mainly because since starting this project in November, I’ve finally began to see progress on some of my powder products. Today I’m rolling in a few of my forgotten favourites and am definitely excited for a bit of a change in my everyday makeup routine.

ROLL OUT

Nars Eyeshadow Duo in St Paul de Vence – now my goal for this was to hit pan on the peach and so I’ve already rolled this one. I knew I had quite a dent in the pan last time around but didn’t expect to hit pan after three weeks of use after my last update. I have consistently used both of the shades and will definitely come back to them after I make progress on my other shadows. Kind of tempted to roll in one of my other Nars duo now because despite the formula being quite dense, it definitely feels achievable to hit pan.

MAC Frost Eyeshadow in Sable – my favourite shadow and now officially the first shadow I’ve fully used up. Funnily enough it was used up the same week I hit pan on St Paul de Vence and again, I would definitely pan anther Mac single. I wore it layered with the Nars peach or on its own. I love this shade but it was one of my oldest makeup products and I’m glad it’s all gone.

Becca Ombre Rouge Palette – this was only an accompanying palette why I was using Nars and Mac but right after those were out, I started getting a lot more use from the middle shade and finally hit pan. The dark brown is the densest shadow in the palette and since I only used it to line the lash line, it took quite a while. I was nearly tempted to keep this in so I could hit pan on all the shades but I definitely need a bit a shakeup when it comes to eye makeup.

Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Ébloui – I tried using this a handful of times but I found because it was so dry it wasn’t really worth the effort for me anymore so of course, I had a bit a makeup destruction moment with it. I’m assuming that’s why this formula was discontinued but I would definitely love this colour in a powder form.

theBalm Desert Bronzer Blush – once again this was used up within three weeks which means that this sample gave me about 20 uses. I used it with the Tom Ford Cheek Brush as a bronzer all over my face and it’s very much on the verge of blush and bronzer but that’s the best shade on me. Quite easy to use up and I would definitely look to buying it in the future.

PROGRESS

Chanel Joues Contraste Blusher in Accent – this wasn’t used very heavily when I was trying to use up theBalm Desert and the odd few days when I played with Glossier Cloud Paints but it is back as the only blush I use now. I love the product to bits but it is the oldest blush in my collection and I won’t stop until it’s gone. As a baked product, the progress is slow but I have a dip in the top corner and hopefully can see some pan soon.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 – I put this product in the project because it’s so old it’s not the shade I would be in MAC now but I also wasn’t a big fan of the formula and didn’t expect to use it up. The formula grew on me, the darker colour actually works better to cover the darkness under my eyes and I’ve made some progress so I will definitely use it up and maybe even repurchase the correct shade down the line. Based on the amount of product I used in the last two months, I’d want to finish it before the next update.

Chanel Illusion d’Ombre in New Moon – I originally rolled this in with the Sephora liner thinking it would work as a base because I hate the the glitter fallout of this product but the few times I used it I actually just layered it on top of powder shadow in the centre of my lid. Apparently the lesser you use, the better it performs but that means there is no progress in the pan. I will keep it in the project for now but I have one more Illusion d’Ombre in my collection and wonder if that one would be easier to get through.

Sephora Jumbo Liner in Copper – I used to love this tone of copper and when this one says waterproof, it means it will stay on for as long as you want. Handy for someone who doesn’t even attempt eyeshadow without a primer. I’ve tried  to get my Becca palette out of the project but now that it’s out, I’ve slowly been incorporating this by drawing this all over the lid and topping up with a Nars Nepal which is a deeper cousin of MAC Naked Lunch. I used it about five times so the progress is minimal but I like focusing on one product at a time to see maximum progress and this one is next in line.

Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Farouche – I went through a few lip products in my project but I fail on this one simply because I’ve found myself being too busy to reapply lipstick throughout the day. This formula is also one that goes down quite slowly but I definitely enjoy both the colour and the formula – I just need to make conscious effort to reapply it.

MAC Lip Liner in Whirl – again my progress on this decreased compared to last update but I still used it consistently. This is a pencil that takes me five uses before I need to sharpen it so it won’t be done any time soon but for someone who never used lip liner before I’m okay with the process.

ROLL IN

Tom Ford Eye Quad in Cocoa Mirage – this is one of my most expensive makeup products and one that I haven’t pulled out of my drawers for a while. In a sense this is a more neutral replacement for Becca Ombre Rouge with only one satin shade which also has the biggest dip. My goal is to hit pan on all the shades. Good luck with that dark brown.

Chanel Eye Quad in Rafffinement – I absolutely love the tones in this quad and although Tisse Rivoli is an alternative in the current range, it pulls a lot warmer than Raffinement. You can tell which shade is the most used in this palette and I’ll definitely be using this up while trying to hit pan on the other shades and desperately trying to find a dupe for this bottom left shade. I figured this would go with the mattes in Cocoa Mirage and will hopefully ease me back into some of my purple toned products that I’d like to pan next – yes that champagne actually pulls lilac on my skin and Tisse Rivoli could never compete.

Essence Kajal Pencil in Teddy – I have a few bronze brown eyeliners in my collection and while I like the formula, this one is the oldest and the neutral tone is my least favourite (I’m more of MAC Costa Riche fan). I don’t know how long this can take given that I bought a new Nars pencil recently and haven’t even used it but I guess as long as I neglect the dark browns in Cocoa Mirage, I should get through it fairly quickly.

T-B: Sephora Copper, Essence Teddy, MAC Whirl, Chanel Farouche, Glossier Leo

Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Leo (old formula) – I’ve pulled this out this month for my Glossier makeup look and continued to use it after the post went live. I am less then half way through the product because this is one of those that takes five swipes to get the smallest amount of colour on your lips. I’ve pretty chosen it because the packaging is already broken and I’d like to upgrade but this is also a good one for when I can’t be bothered to reapply lipstick since I can put this on without a mirror.

Pai Rosehip Oil – I intended to keep this project strictly makeup but there isn’t really a category I’d like to add more to at the moment so decided to pull this one in. Essentially, my face doesn’t agree with rosehip oil so I’ve decided to get through it by using it as body moisturiser every now and again. I know I won’t use it more than once a week so I want to put it in the project to ensure I do actually reach for it.

I have unknowingly had these updates come up every two months and once again, the only products I’d imagine hitting my goal on any time soon will be the concealer and the pencils but until then, feel free to share you thoughts on project panning. How has your project been going?
