I am a big advocate of the monochrome makeup looks and rosy brown tones are some of my favourites to do this with. I definitely need to add a bit of rosiness into my skin but don’t like bright shades on my skin so rosy browns are very flattering on me. I picked out some of my favourites rosy tones for this look including Hourglass Diffused Bronze Light which is a stunning bronze tone on my skin, Nars Douceur has also been a long go-to neutral blush (I’m panning mine but there are a lot of alternatives out there) and the Tom Ford Sous Le Sable palette. Sous Le Sable is fantastic rosy palette that doesn’t pull too peachy on warm complexion like mine and it makes for a gorgeous matte look and these mattes are some of the easiest to work with in my collection.
FACE
I started the look of with a generous layer of Mac Strobe Cream in Pinklite all over and then applied the Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation in 0.1 with the Fenty Full Bodied Foundation Brush. I concealed under my eyes with the Fenty Pro Filt’r Concealer in 130 and blended it out the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Touch Up Brush. I set the face with the Fenty Invisimatte Powder in Universal with the Charlotte Tilbury Powder & Sculpt Brush. I turned mine into a loose powder since I found it hard to pick up with a brush as a pressed powder but have found it to work a lot better since.
I contoured my cheekbones, nose and jawline with the Burberry Light Glow Blush in Earthy and the Kevyn Aucoin Contour Brush. I then went over the tops on my cheekbones, tip of my nose and my forehead with a light dusting of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Diffused Bronze Light applied with the Tom Ford Cheek Brush. I concentrated the Nars Blusher in Douceur higher up on the cheek with the Nars Yachiyo Brush and then finished off the face with the Nars Highlighting Powder in Capri along the tops on my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and cupid’s bow, applied with the Hakuhodo Brush G511.
EYES
I primed my eyelids with Fenty Pro Filt’r Eye Primer to create a smooth base. Using the Tom Ford Eye Quad in Sous Le Sable, I started by dusting the lightest shade all over the lid with the Rae Morris Creme Shadow Brush (vegan option linked), added the third shade in the palette in the outer v with the Rae Morris Deluxe Round Shader and then used the darkest shade in the palette along my top lashline with the Hakuhodo Brush G5514. I also smoked out the lower lashline using the third shade with the Suqqu Smudging Brush and then applied the Tom Ford Emotionproof Eyeliner in Brut Rose in my waterline. I’m not a big mascara person but I ran a tiny bit across my top lashes using Chanel Le Volume Revolution in Deep Eros. For my eyebrows, I filled them in lightly with the Fenty MVP in Soft Red.
LIPS
I am a lover of rosy brown nudes and definitely have a few favourites in my collection but for this look I wanted to showcase the Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in Bronx. I’ve never heard anybody talk about this colour but this is a stunning rosy nude with a balance of grey and nude in it that’s not too stark on fair skin. I also adore the Retro Matte formula because it feels so lightweight on the lips and hardly transfers. I skipped lip liner and just went straight in from the bullet for this look.
That’s the finished look. It’s definitely one that I find to be extremely flattering and hope you enjoyed it as well. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Are you a fan of monochrome makeup looks? Have you tried any of the products I mentioned in the post?
