Admittedly I’m not very adventurous when it comes to lip colours and would happily just wear a browny nude of sorts for the rest of my life. If you’ve followed me for a while, you might know that my all-time favourite browny nude is the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Barbara but because I’m trying to get through my lipstick in my project pan, I’ve decided not to repurchase it until I’m happy with my collection. That aside, I also have plenty of browny nude options left in my collection and I wanted to share my favourites with you in this post.

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in Bronx – this one is the newest addition to my lipstick collection because when I swatched it in store, I knew this was the shade I was looking for all along. I’ve always loved Mac Styled In Sepia but the shade didn’t work on my skintone, then I moved onto Laura Mercier Milky Way which was near damn perfect in sense it had the cool undertones and was more flattering on my complexion but sadly it was not a matte lipstick. Bronx is very matte and lightweight on the lips and I absolutely love it. I’ve definitely been into more cool toned looks as of recently and this is the perfect compliment to all my eye looks.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Super Nineties – while Bronx is definitely cool toned nude, Super Nineties is what I’d class as a true browny nude. It’s a deeper nude on my colouring but definitely not vampy and very much daytime appropriate. Once again a matte formula, though, it’s not quite as matte as Bronx but I really enjoy the CT Matte Revolution formula and would recommend them if you’re just dipping your toes into matte lipsticks.

Nars Matte Lipstick in Tonka – Tonka is a bit of a step up from Super Nineties in terms of depth and it definitely has more red and rosy tones in it. I’m not a big fan of warm toned makeup but Tonka definitely strikes a nice balance and I actually find it surprisingly flattering. This one is my pick for when I want my lip colour to be a little bit more dramatic but still want to keep the look neutral. I also love how pigmented this colour is but sadly, I find this formula to be a tad drying throughout the day.

Chanel Rouge Crayon Mat in Hazelnut – similarly to Bronx, Hazelnut is another pale skin friendly version of Styled in Sepia and out of all of these here, this one is my favourite (and I swear not only because hazelnut is my favourite nut). It has more warmth than Bronx, is more of soft matte finish and is the most pigmented out of the lipsticks here. My favourite part though is that it’s a retractable crayon. I love the ease of application with crayon but hate sharpening them so this is best of both worlds and easily one of the top favourites in my collection.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria – so Very Victoria is actually a dupe for Nars Barbara bar Barbara is a lot more pigmented so on me looks darker which I prefer, don’t ask me why I decided to repurchase Very Victoria instead of Barbara. The great thing about having a lipstick in the Matte Revolution formula that’s close to your lip colour is you can make people think you’re not wearing lipstick but just have naturally stunning lips. Because Very Victoria is quite light on the browny nude spectrum and doesn’t go on fully opaque (you may notice it swatches a lot darker than it looks on the lips too), it adds a bit of brown and mauve to my lips and just makes you look effortlessly chic. I still like the full pigment Barbara gives me more but this one definitely does the trick if I want just a little bit of colour on the lips and it wears off into a subtle stain as well.

That’s it for my current favourite browny nudes. If you’re a nude lip fanatic like I am, I would also recommend checking out my last year’s take on them here. What are some of your favourite lip colours? Do you usually go for nudes or only wear brighter colours?
These colours look gorgeous on you!
