Swatching All My Bronzers and Contours For Fair Skin

I have definitely developed a bit of an obsession with bronzer buying ever since brands started coming out with more than two shades and this post is a proof of that. I figured it would be a good point of reference for anyone who might be looking for a bronzer/contour especially if you have a fair complexion like mine. For reference, I use shade 100 in the Fenty Hydrating Foundation and 0.1 in the Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation. I have yellow undertones so I like pinkier bronzers because yellow tones make me look sallow. For the purpose of this post, I decided to include any product in my collection that I use as a bronzer or contour and grouped them in three main categories so if it’s more of fair playing field. Rosy Brown Makeup Look

I am a big advocate of the monochrome makeup looks and rosy brown tones are some of my favourites to do this with. I definitely need to add a bit of rosiness into my skin but don’t like bright shades on my skin so rosy browns are very flattering on me. I picked out some of my favourites rosy tones for this look including Hourglass Diffused Bronze Light which is a stunning bronze tone on my skin, Nars Douceur has also been a long go-to neutral blush (I’m panning mine but there are a lot of alternatives out there) and the Tom Ford Sous Le Sable palette. Sous Le Sable is fantastic rosy palette that doesn’t pull too peachy on warm complexion like mine and it makes for a gorgeous matte look and these mattes are some of the easiest to work with in my collection. Minimal Makeup Bag: If I Could Only Keep One in Every Category

Even though I love beauty, I often feel like my collection got a bit out of hand recently and I wish that I had much less variety in some of the categories. In turn, I thought it’d be fun to go through my collection and pick one product in each category that I would keep if I had to only choose one. Now I wanted to be quite free with the selection so I didn’t exclude limited edition products or only picked the products I’ve used the most in that category. I am however excluding past favourites that didn’t get re-purchased (yet) because I still have some self-restraint. Continue reading “Minimal Makeup Bag: If I Could Only Keep One in Every Category”

Rolling Project Pan Update #5

It’s no surprise that I have abandoned this blog for the last half a year while trying to figure out things in my life. Admittedly, the biggest reason why I stopped blogging was because I felt I was buying too much makeup and didn’t feel good about where my collection was going. But the truth is I love makeup and always finding myself coming back so here we are. I thought I’d start with a project pan update because while I pretty much stopped tracking all the products per se, I finally hit my goal on one very challenging product. I am also having a bit of an overhaul of the project so this will be a long post. Continue reading “Rolling Project Pan Update #5”

Comparing Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronze in Tantalize and Tantastic

Having red hair and yellow undertones makes finding bronzers quite a challenge. Anything yellow toned (think Benefit Hoola Lite) will make me look like I have jaundice and that’s the last thing I need. On top of that, the more neutral tone the more muddy it can look on my skin and despite its cult following, Marc Jacobs Omega Bronze in Tantastic is very much borderline too neutral to look flattering on me so I’ll say I was fairly intrigued when Tantalize came out because I’ve often reached for darker toned bronzers because the undertone turned was more of what I was looking for.
