Testing New Makeup feat. Glossier and Milk

Aside from my current makeup brush obsession, I have finished of a couple of makeup products recently and found myself watching a lot of full face Glossier and Milk makeup looks videos. Now, I tried to keep things contained and frankly not everything in the ranges appeals to me but I’ve been having a bit of a play with the products I got. Continue reading “Testing New Makeup feat. Hakuhodo Shopping Experience and Haul

About three months ago I exclaimed how after purchasing a Surratt brush I finally understood artisan brushes but also how I wouldn’t be shopping for any in the near future. I have had my eye on Wayne Goss brushes for ages but somehow I wasn’t keen on ordering from Beautylish and actually found that Rae Morris was a much easier option to get in Europe or Australia given that Rae Morris is an Australian brand. I was still tempted by the Hakuhodo offering and thanks to Hailey’s buying guide, I finally managed to put an order together. Continue reading “Hakuhodo Shopping Experience and Haul”

Makeup Inventory – Category and Cost Analysis

Did I mention that I have a slight compulsion towards spreadsheets? And while I have used one to track my wardrobe inventory last year, I finally decided to pull one together for my makeup collection. I feel like to some extent ‘makeup inventory’ is just the new makeup collection concept but it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t let some of my work analysis creep into this. Like my wardrobe inventory, I have Excel spreadsheet set up for every single makeup product I own but in no way will I be able to track cost per wear, nor do I find it necessary.¬†For the purpose of this post, I have focused on yearly spending, category breakdown and threw in a brand diagram as a bonus. My Favourite Single Eyeshadows

While I do have a soft spot for smaller palettes in terms of everyday use, I generally only reach for a few shades within a palette and spend a lot of time thinking of what shades work work better. Naturally, it makes sense that I would buy a couple singles to create the perfect palette but looking back at my favourites, I pretty much have all the mattes down but still rely on my palettes for shimmer. Not a big deal, given that I gravitate towards matte looks most of the time anyway unless it’s the MAC Frost formula. If you are a fellow reddish brown eyeshadow lover, let me run you through some of my favourites. Continue reading “My Favourite Single Eyeshadows”

Pillow Talk Smokey Eye Look

It’s no secret I have a bit of an obsession with red brown eyeshdows and there are certainly a few in my collection starting with Nars Dolomites, pretty much all the eyeshadow palettes and a few singles I own. Now I previously discussed the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Eye Palette here and featured more of the pinky beige look but seeing as the palette has now been restocked, I wanted to test if you could create a more smokey look. This whole idea perhaps came about because of the recent Julianne Moore cover for The Rake and while this isn’t a recreation, it’s pretty much reminded me to smoke out my lower lash line more often because she looked absolutely stunning.
